First Method : Plain and Simple Raita
- 2 boiled potatoes roughly mashed with hands
- 1 cup whisked curd
- 2 finely chopped green chilies
- Half teaspoon roasted and crushed cumin seed
- finely chopped coriander leaves
- half teaspoon black pepper powder
- Rock salt (sendha namak) according to your taste
Second Method : With Tadka (Optional)
- 1 teaspoon cooking oil or desi ghee
- 1 teaspoon cumin seed
- 6-7 curry leaves
First Method : Plain and Simple Raita
Put 1 cup whisked curd in a bowl and add 2 boiled mashed potatoes in it.
Add rock salt (sendha namak) in it and mix it.
Add black pepper powder.
Add finely chopped green chillies in it.
Mix all ingredients and garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
Second Method : With Tadka (Optional)
Add 1 teaspoon oil in cooking pan and heat it.
Add half teaspoon cumin seeds and cook it until its colour change to light brown
Add 2 finely chopped green chillies in it and cook it until it raw flavour vanishes.
Add 6-7 curry leaves in it and cook for 1 minute.
Now turn off the gas and let the tadka cool it.
Put 1 cup whisked curd in a bowl.
add 2 boiled mashed potatoes in it.
Add rock salt (sendha namak) on it.
Now add tadka on top of it.
Mix all ingredients and garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
- You can increase the quantity of green chilies if you want to increase the spiciness of raita.
- You can add little water in curd with you want thin consistency of curd. Then adjust the salt accordingly.
For making everyday aloo raita
- Add 1 or 2 teaspoon chaat masala on top of it.
- Add red chilly powder according to your taste.
- Use regular salt on it. Do not use rock salt (sendha namak) on it.
- You can also add little bit of kala namak on it for good taste.
- Add all these in the steps mentioned in first method of making raita.
